Thank You Forward...

There are plenty of people with whom you come into contact with every single day where gratitude can be expressed.  On your way to work, you go to your local café where your regular barista, Tom, quickly makes your café latte.  While you were waiting, you jotted down on a gratitude note, ‘You always help me start my day with a smile.’ When you trade your latte for the note, with little effort, you have just enriched his day.

At lunch, you are sitting in a bustling café.  You notice a woman at the table to your left sitting with three children, all under the age of five.  The four year old tips his glass of chocolate milk and in slow motion, you watch the chocolate milk spill all over the floor as the glass comes crashing down after the mess.  Quickly, you run to the mother’s aid and use the extra napkins at your table to help clean up the mess.  As this woman leaves with her children she unexpectedly hands you a instant gratitude note.  You exchange smiles and your day has instantly been enhanced.

An ideal situation to convey gratitude is after dining in a restaurant.  You’ve just enjoyed a delicious meal that was served with excellent timing.  Your server was personable which encouraged you to acknowledge her great service. On the back of your 'thank you' note, you write ‘…for creating an incredible dining experience.’ And leave it along with your gratuity.

There will be other moments where a simple ‘thank you,’ which is printed on each gratitude note, will be adequate.  For instance, when the valet drops your car off to you and takes the ticket off from under your windshield wiper, you can pull from your pocket the instant gratitude note you receive earlier that day and hand it to the valet along with the tip.  As you can see, gratitude notes can also be recycled and passed from person to person to person, which continues the cycle of Universal Gratitude.
